Context

In Class, our LD Teacher (Yoann Saquet from Arkane Studios Lyon) gave us a template of simple dishonored mechanics. I've decided to do a whiteboard Test training, 48H hours to create a map and a Level concept.

Pitch

You Start at the top of a church. inside a small medieval village. You must kill the mayor, and avoid or eliminate ennemies on your route.

Even if the template gave me tons of possibilities, I've done some simple blueprints, to recreate dark vision of Dishonored serie.

It's a beautiful small village in south of france (officially one of the most beautiful village of the country).

I found it very cool, a
unique architecture, typical from the old days.

2D concepts

I've made a quick concept with refs. and simple block, to help me figure out what I desire, how to guide the player and let him the choice of his path.

I directly knew that the player would start at the top of the church. perfect landmark, and perfect spot to see all the map and decide what to do.

Here's the map! As you see on top view screenshot, there's a whole sewers system. in my intentions, players can infiltrate the whole place thanks to sewers and secrets passages like wells or through cellar. even by a secret passage inside the foutain!

At the start of the level, you directly see your objective, the main building, and the HUD telling you what to do.

Thanks to the template, I've tweaked a lot guards paths, and it's very visual so wonderful tool to use to easily and rapidly tweak something.
